Our Story – LSOSF

Little Sisters Of St. Francis

Mother Kevin English Medium Pre-Primary and Primary School was established in 2007, under the auspices of the Catholic Dioceses of Same. Thanks to the Little Sisters of St. Francis whom funded this school.

Mother Mary Kevin Kearny, an Irish missionary, was our foundress with the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.

Our congregation is an indigenous congregation founded in Uganda in 1923 by the Mother Mary Kevin Kearny, an Irish missionary, in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi. The congregation is focus in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania in order to reach the poor and the needy, which they called to love and serve.

We are involved in apostolate works such as teaching (education), health care (HIV & AIDS), catechetical work and social services (taking care of street children, refugees, people with disabilities, orphans…).

Our congregation is been divided into six Regions:  three in Uganda, two in Kenya and one in Tanzania for having a good administration.  All these Regions are under the administration of the Regional Superiors, who are directly accountable to the Superior General and her Council.

These are our projects in Tanzania (one are of the regions):

  1. Mama Kevina Feeding Program, Arusha.
  2. Mother Kevin Schools, Same.
  3. Mama Kevina Hope Centre , Same.
  4. St Clare Girls` Secondary School.
  5. Padre Pio Nursery School_Njiro Parish.

Nowadays, our congregation has more over 700 members who really work on the benefits of the poor and need people.

Besides, we are working and collaborating with other institutions belonging to the Dioceses of Kilimanjaro and Arusha.
